THE NEXT LEVEL STARTS BEFORE HIGH SCHOOL.

Owens Valley PDP Prep is a structured development program for 7th and 8th grade athletes in Bishop and throughout the Owens Valley preparing for the transition to high school baseball. This is more than extra practices. Prep combines baseball development, strength & conditioning, movement, athletic development and accountability to help players build the physical foundation, habits and confidence they will need as the game gets faster and expectations get higher.

WHO IS PREP FOR?

Prep is designed primarily for 7th and 8th grade baseball players who are ready to train with intention and begin preparing for the demands of high school baseball. Players do not need to be finished products. They do need to be willing to work, learn, be coached and consistently show up. Roster space will be limited so that instruction and training remain intentional.

WHAT PREP INCLUDES

Strength + Athletic Development

Prep athletes will train through our collaboration with Paradox Fitness, with programming focused on building stronger, healthier and more capable athletes.

January and February will place a heavy emphasis on strength, conditioning, agility and gym-based development. Prep athletes will train 2–3 times per week, with baseball-specific field work incorporated as weather and field availability allow.

Prep athletes will also have access to Paradox Fitness outside of scheduled OVPDP training sessions.

COMPETITION OPPORTUNITIES

Prep is development first — but development should have opportunities to be tested. OVPDP plans to field a Prep Competition Team to provide selected athletes with opportunities to compete together in tournament and game settings. The competition roster will be invite only and may vary based on the event, player readiness, position needs and availability. Participation in Prep does not guarantee selection to a competition roster.

For local athletes, participation in Prep is required to be eligible for OVPDP competition teams. Competition rosters are selected based on factors including player readiness, position needs, event requirements and availability. Guest players may be added at the coaching staff's discretion based on roster, position or event needs.

Competition opportunities are expected to begin later in the spring, likely beginning in May.

Competition team participation will involve additional costs beyond regular Prep tuition. Costs will vary based on the event and may include tournament fees, uniforms, travel and other competition-related expenses. Families will receive cost information before committing to an event or competition roster.

Competition is an extension of the training — an opportunity for athletes to apply what they are building through Prep against quality competition.

THE PLAN

January – June/July 2027
Prep will operate as a multi-month development program rather than a short clinic or traditional team season.

January–February
Primary emphasis on strength, conditioning, agility and gym-based athletic development, with training generally scheduled 2–3 times per week. Baseball-specific field work will be incorporated as weather and field availability allow.

Beginning in March
Athletic development continues alongside increased baseball-specific field work as weather, field availability and player schedules allow.

Beginning around May
Select competition opportunities may be added, with schedules and rosters determined by event, player readiness, position needs and availability

Prep is about training with purpose — not playing more baseball just to play more baseball.

DESIGNED TO COMPLIMENT NOT REPLACE

OVPDP Prep is first and foremost a player-development program. While selected athletes will have opportunities to compete through OVPDP, Prep is not built around simply adding more games to a player's schedule.

Every family's baseball path may look a little different. Our goal is to provide local athletes with consistent, intentional training while creating meaningful competition opportunities when they support that development.

WHY PREP?

The jump to high school baseball doesn't begin freshman year. By then, athletes are expected to move better, throw harder, run faster, understand the game and handle a significantly higher physical workload. Those things take time to build.

Prep gives local athletes an opportunity to begin that process before the tryout, before the roster and before the spotlight.

Before the spotlight comes the work.

EXCLUSIVE PREP APPAREL

Prep athletes will receive exclusive OVPDP × Paradox apparel as part of their enrollment. Additional Prep apparel will also be available for families to purchase separately.

EXCLUSIVE CLINIC DISCOUNTS

OVPDP Prep athletes receive discounted registration rates for specialty clinics hosted by OVPDP. These opportunities provide access to specialized instruction from experienced coaches and instructors beyond regular Prep training. Discounts vary by clinic.

TUITION & ENROLLMENT

$150 per month
$425 when prepaid for three months

A $50 non-refundable application fee is required when applying and is separate from program tuition.

Monthly tuition is due by the date shown on the invoice. Families may pay by cash, check, bank transfer, debit card or credit card. Credit card payments are subject to a 3% surcharge.

PLAYING A WINTER SPORT?

Athletes participating in a winter sport are still encouraged to apply. Approved athletes may defer the start of active participation until their winter season concludes.

Athletes accepted with an approved winter deferral will prepay their first month of tuition ($150) to reserve their roster spot. That payment will be applied to their first month of active participation.

FUND MY SEASON

Want to offset your Prep tuition? Accepted OVPDP Prep athletes have access to Fund My Season, and optional individual fundraising program.

Athletes will receive a personalized digital fundraiser with 30 sponsorship spots and secure Square payment link. 100% of funds raised are credited directly toward that athlete's Prep tuition, and OVPDP covers all payment processing fees.

Raise up to $425 - enough to cover one discounted three-month Prep block.

Fund My Season is available after acceptance into OVPDP Prep.
